Cat Comforts
Cats seen to have a sixth sense that detects when someone needs them. They provide comfort, not by chattering, pushing, or even pushing suggestions, but by simply being there for the ones they love. They curl up on your lap and purr. That soft, rhythmic vibration can have a huge healing power on us. God too longs to curl up with is and provide comfort. It we listen closely, we can feel His ‘purring presence’ in a friend’s voice, child’s hug, warm bed, or cool breeze.
Cats are capable of taking care of themselves, yet are deeply aware of those who love and provide for them. They strive to return that love any way they can, whether it is curling up on your lap, rubbing against your leg, or even bringing you their prized kill (no thank you…you can keep that!). Sometimes we just need to know that someone is there for us.
1 John 4:16 tells us “ And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.’
We can all take a lesson from cats and simply show up for the people in our lives that are struggling. No judgement, no requirement, just our presence.
Reflection;
How have you felt God bringing you comfort this week? How can you extend this love to others?
